In With the NEW

I am so excited to be sharing my heart on a forum like this! It's been a while! What better way to kick off this new year with a new site and new vision and a new word! I love sharing what God speaks into my heart. He makes the simplest experiences so profound and fruitful. He makes earthly things Heavenly. He clothes the plain with extraordinary. He makes the little things,  BIG things - ALL to draw us in deeper into Him.

Let me start this off by saying that I am not a high maintenance woman. HA! Well at least when it comes to make-up (having high maintenance hair is enough for me, thank you very much). My best friend is kind of the opposite. She knows about all the latest and greatest skin care/beauty tips and tricks! Skin care and make up is no joke to her! I promise this is more about Jesus than make up! HA! The other day as we were getting ready together, she handed me a new blush brush. I'm way too embarrassed to even tell you how old mine was. I'm pretty sure she couldn't take me using that ancient tool anymore. IT WAS OLD!!!!

She handed it to me and said, "Here, keep this!" Haha I knew I needed a new one but just never got to buying one. The following day I went through my make up bag and (out of habit) reached for that old crusty brush again. It'd been with me for a long time and for some reason I didn't throw it away when my bestie had given me the new one.

I stopped myself and couldn't believe I reached for the old one when the new one was right in front of me. Literally RIGHT. THERE. I was almost shocked at myself. WHY???

Oh Holy Conviction. I just love it so much when the Lord can speak to me through "insignificant" things because it just shows His character and how efficient and loving He is. He never wastes a moment to bring clarity into your day. He wont waste a THING - not even an old dirty brush.

I realized that in my life, I've done this before with bigger, more important things. I've even done this with the newness God brings into my life each new day - I've done this with new mercies and new opportunities and new gifts and new insight and new perspective and new encounters... Even with all the newness God has given to me, I've still reached for the old. I've reached for old habits and old mind sets and old thoughts and old patterns. I've reached for the OLD - way too many times before. This is a familiar place to me. I can so easily go back to that old place of distrust. Or that old place of insecurity. The past tries to condemn the NEWNESS of God.

Oh Holy Conviction! It's a good thing. It's a really good thing. Don't ever be ashamed of conviction - it's the thing that draws you closer to the father. Conviction, contrary to what some believe, is an absolutely wonderful demonstration of the Father's love.

I immediately turned my heart to Isaiah 43:19, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."

Friends: God may be old but He has never stopped being NEW. He is the relevance of everyday and He never stops creating and doing new things in and through you. With God, you never have to "go onto the next new thing" because He is eternal. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. There are so many dimensions to who He is. It's mind blowing!

HE makes ALL things NEW. "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!" (2 Corinthians 5:17). The NEW has come. REJOICE! You are a new creation!

Would you make a commitment with me and throw away the old? Don't keep it there for "later." Get rid of it! It's not enough to use the "new" while keeping the old on standby. Everything God has replaced in your life, has NO PLACE in your life.

Be ALL IN with the NEW. It's so exciting! Enjoy the Newness of this NEW YEAR - of this NEW SEASON. God may be old, but He never stops being NEW!

With Love,

Natalie
